Organic Search Engine Optimization

The most common way for people to find information on the
web is by typing one or more search terms or key words into a
browser. Only 7% of global web users find information by
typing a URL directly into the web address field or by linking
from another site. If your customers don't already know who
they want to buy from, 99% of them are going to buy from one
of the top 30 companies displayed in search engine results. In
fact, according to Forrester Research, the top 3 websites in any
industry earned 65% of all online revenue in 2006.
How We Can Help:
The goal of organic search
engine optimization is to have
your website appear at or near the
top of search engine results:
- Sponsored results (circled
above in red) appear at the top
and right of search results.
Search Engines use a bidding
process to sell the use of
keywords for a period of time.
Businesses pay for every click-
thru to their site. Sponsored
results can be implemented
quickly, but they can be costly.
- Unsponsored or organic
results (circled above in blue)
appear below and to the left of
sponsored results. These
listings are free, but in order to
rank at or near the top of
organic search engine
results a website has to first
be optimized for specific
keywords. See FAQs for a
discussion of what this might
cost and why. Organic results
take more time to implement
but they last longer and cost
less overall.

Organic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a process that results in
increased web site visibility and conversion rates (sales and referral rates). In
other words, it gets you ranked in the top 30 for specified key word phrases.
Search engines don't publicize how they go about crawling, indexing and
ranking web sites. As a SEO firm, our goal is to balance the little we do know
about how the major search engines work, with what we also know about how
individuals search and view the web. It's not a science; it's an art, and it does
not produce immediate results.
Organic Search Engine Optimization or Organic SEO involves
reviewing a site's technologies, content and presentation methods to figure out
if anything is preventing the site from being indexed and ranked highly. Organic
SEO examines large databases of keywords used by individuals to find
websites and by search engines to index them. Our goal is to identify highly
relevant keyword phrases that are frequently used by searchers and rarely
used by competing web sites. Pages on your site can then be "optimized"
using those keyword phrases to drive more traffic, and more ready-to-convert
searchers to your web site.
It is important to remember that pages are optimized, not web sites. Each
page is ranked independent of others taking into consideration many
components, but primarily the page content, age, and the number and types of
inbound links. The two most important things to focus on when optimizing a
web page are:
- ensuring each page has unique, high quality content focused around one
or two main ideas using terms people search on; and
- acquiring lots and lots of highly relevant and reputable inbound links.
Results from organic search engine optimization will start to be felt within a few
months, but will typically take 9 to 12 months for the full impact to be
measured.
